Breeding worms
One of the easy ways to obtain a regular and cheap supply is to breed your own worms. I have a worm or vermicomposting bin in my garage. I feed the bin kitchen scraps, and I pick out worms twice a week. This is cheap, environmentally responsible, and immensly practical. If you have ambitions, you can also sell surplus worms to other reptiles keepers. And, of course, you get free compost for your garden.
